Fiat 500 + Ferrari 458 Italia = One Wild Concept
The new Fiat 500 is very popular – over 100,000 units have been sold just in UK. That’s less in 5 years. Powered by a range of fuel-efficient engines it is far from a sporty car.
How about Fiat 500 with a Ferrari 458 Italia engine? Sounds insane, but something we would love to see. Lazzarini Design has done some measuring and says that with little body work, the Fiat 500 could be fitted with the 4.5-litre V8 from the Ferrari 458 Italia. Of course the engine wouldn’t be where the original one is, but behind the front seats.
Ferrari’s 4.5-litre V8 would be detuned from 570hp to 550hp and the Fiat’s wheelbase would need to be stretched around 30cm, to fit the new engine and transmission.
Other updates include an aerodynamic body kit with new bumpers, revised side skirts, a huge rear wing, roof-mounted air intake, a dual exhaust system, a reinforced chassis, sportier suspension and new brakes.
Called 550 Italia, this wild small city car would weigh around 1,000kg.
Lazzarini Design is currently looking for an investor to build the 550 Italia. If you are interested, then little over £350k is enough to build it.
