Ferrari California Turbo Prototype Spied At the Fiorano Test Track [VIDEO]

Ferrari California just received few updates for 2013 model year and packs now 454bhp from a front-mid mounted 4.3 litre V8. Of course naturally aspirated, like all past Ferrari’s, since the F40 supercar.

It looks like Ferrari might be going back to forced induction, like many other automakers are doing. The video below shows a California prototype testing at the company’s Fiorano test track in Maranello with a different noise we are use to hear. In fact listen closely and you can hear the turbo whistle.

What’s under the bonnet is a mystery. It could be a turbocharged V8 or V6. The California is likely just a test mule for the engine, that is reportedly developed for Maserati and perhaps also for future Ferrari’s.
