Last month BMW announced a new eco sub-brand called “i”, that will be launched in 2013. The initial line-up will include two models, the i3(MegaCity) and i8(Vision EfficientDynamics).
Here we have photos of the i8 prototype cold weather testing in Northen Sweden. The i8 features an aluminium chassis and a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic passenger cell.
The 2+2 seater sports car is powered by an innovative hybrid system, that in the concept car featured a 1.5 litre three cylinder diesel engine and two electric motors, with a combined output of 328bhp.
