BMW 1 Series Active Tourer 5- and 7-seater spied testing together

Here we have the best pictures of the new BMW 1 Series GT/Active Tourer, showing the 5- and 7-seater at the same time, giving us a good look at the differences between both versions.

As you can see the 7-seater has a higher roof line and a much steeper rear window. It also has a longer rear side window.

Compared to other similar cars on the market, the 5-seater is similar in size to the VW Golf Plus, while the 7-Seater is similar to the Ford S-Max.

Both cars are front-wheel-drive and will be launched to the market before the end of 2014.

The Concept Active Tourer, which was shown at the Paris Motor Show 2012 used a1.5-litre TwinPower Turbo engine and an electric motor with a combined output of 187bhp and 200NM of torque, good for a 0-62mph taking less than eight seconds, top speed approximately 124mph and range on purely EV power is up to 18 miles.

We have also seen the interior before, which was quite different from the standard 1 Series, with almost re-positioned or redesigned.

The name for the production models is still unknown, but both will very likely use the 1 Series designation.
