Audi S3 Saloon with 297bhp priced from £33,240

Audi has unveiled the S3 saloon, which joins the already available three-door and five-door Sportback counterparts, with the new S3 Cabriolet to follow soon.

The standard A3 saloon has been available for some time now with prices starting from £24,275 for the base 148bhp 2.0-litre TDI and 138bhp 1.4-litre TFSI. The range topping A3 saloon uses 178bhp 1.8-litre TFSI petrol S-Line model is priced from £28,105.

The new hot S3 saloon with 297bhp 2.0 TFSI will be available to order later this month with prices starting from £33,240 and first deliveries scheduled for March 2013.

The S3 Saloon goes from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Average fuel economy is up to 40.9mpg with CO2 emissions of 159g/km.

The 2.0 TFSI can be linked to either manual or S tronic transmission.

Other under the sking highlights include MacPherson-based front and four-link rear S sports suspension, multi-plate clutch-based quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.

Visually the S3 saloon is distinguished from the standard A3 saloon with S-specific single-frame grille and front bumper, aluminium-look exterior mirrors, new side sills, redesigned rear bumper with a platinum grey diffuser and four oval tailpipes.

The new S3 Saloon can be equipped with all of the exceptional mobile infotainment and driver assistance solutions available across the A3/S3 range, including the superfast 4G/Long Term Evolution data transfer.
