Audi R8 E-tron To Feature Digital Rear-View Mirror

Audi’s upcoming R8 e-tron is the first production car to feature digital rear-view mirror, similar to the one found on Audi R18 e-tron quattro and R18 ultra race cars.

R8 e-tron does not have a rear window, so a digital mirror is the only solution. There is a small camera located in aerodynamically optimized housing which is heated in cold temperatures.

A 7.7-inch AMOLED colour screen is mounted in place of a conventional rear-view mirror to display the digital image data from the camera.
