Aston Martin V12 Vantage S with 565bhp revealed

Mystery Aston Martin that was teased last week as “something very fast” has been revealed and it is a V12 Vantage S, that replaces the outgoing V12 Vantage in markets around the world.

It is the fastest road going Aston Martin yet, with the exception of the One-77 hypercar.

Power comes from a new 565bhp AM28 6.0-litre V12 engine with 457 lb ft of torque, enabling it to hit a top speed of 205 mph. 0-60mph is to be confirmed, but is expected to drop under 4 seconds (the outgoing model does it in 4.1 seconds).

Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer Dr Ulrich Bez said: “The new V12 Vantage S is, simply, pure Aston Martin. It is extreme in its nature yet truly timeless in its design language. Learning from our successes on the track feeds the development of this type of car and I’m proud to launch such an exciting sports car in this, our centenary year.”

The car also has a new Sportshift III AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox with motorsport-style paddle shift changes for optimum performance delivery and efficiency. The unit is also 25 kg lighter than the outgoing six-speed manual gearbox.

New exhaust system is derived from that of the One-77 hypercar – it is lighter, smaller and even more sonorous than that of the outgoing car.

Visual updates compared to the outgoing V12 Vantage include carbon-fibre grille, new lightweight forged alloy ten-spoke wheels and exterior graphics pack that includes black painted roof and part-painted boot panel.

Inside shows new Sport seating, revised stitching and welt detailing, as well as two leather grade options – Luxmill and semi-aniline. There is also an optional Carbon Fibre Interior Pack.

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is priced from £138,000 (£1915 more than the outgoing model).
