Aston Martin reportedly working on a 800bhp electric Rapide

Aston Martin already has one electric vehicle in development, the DBX luxury crossover.

Now Automotive News reports, there is another electric model in development based on the already familiar Rapide saloon.

The all-electric Rapide is scheduled for launch in about two years and according to CEO Andy Palmer the all-electric saloon feature an all-wheel drive setup and is going to have a combined output of approximately 800bhp. That is very impressive and if they do the software right, this thing could be extremely fast. In comparison the dual-motor Tesla Model S P85D with the optional “Ludicrous Mode” goes from 0-60mph in just 2.8 seconds.

The battery pack will be sourced from LG or Samsung and the range is estimated to be around 200 miles.

The all-electric Rapide is expected to cost from £130k with hundreds of units planned to roll off the assembly line each year.

It is very likely that Porsche is planning a similar move with their next-generation Panamera. Stay tuned!
