Following last month’s preview, Ariel Motor Company has released full details and new images of the extremely awesome Nomad off-roader.
Based on the already familiar Atom model, the Nomad is a serious off-roader, featuring an increased ground clearance, long-travel suspension, big alloys with chunky tyres, along with chassis updates to handle the rough terrain.
Weighing just 670kg, the rear-wheel drive Ariel Nomad is powered by a Honda-sourced 235bhp 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine with 221 lb-ft of torque linked to a six-speed close-ratio gearbox.
235bhp is not a whole lot by todays standards, but the low weight guarantees this beast will reach 0-60mph in just 3.4 seconds, while the top speed is 125mph. That’s impressive.
The Nomad will go on sale this summer with prices starting from £27,500 plus VAT.
