All-New, Second Generation BMW 1 Series Revealed

The second generation of the BMW 1 Series is still the only rear-wheel-drive model in its class and features a bolf, swept-back body. For the first time, all the petrol and diesel engines for the BMW 1 Series now feature new BMW TwinPower Turbo technology.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new 1 Series has a longer body (+85mm), longer wheelbase (+30mm), wider front track (+51mm), wider rear track (72mm), increased width (17mm) and the same height.

Luggage compartment is expanded from 330 to 360 litres, and can be expanded to a maximum of 1,200 litres with rear seats folded down.

Prices start at £19,375 for the 116i ES and go all the way up to £23,480 for the 120d. UK sales will start on 17 September 2011, with a choice of three diesel and two petrol engines, with power ranging from 136 horsepower to 184 horsepower.
