All-new eight-generation 2015 Volkswagen Passat priced from £22,215

Following its online debut back in July, Volkswagen UK has announced pricing for the new eight-generation Passat saloon and estate models, with prices starting from £22,215 for the entry-level saloon with a 118bhp 1.6 TDI linked to a 6-speed manual.

The entry-level Passat Estate can be yours for £23,475.

Compared to the outgoing model the new Passat is up to 85kg lighter, while the overall length is 4767mm (-2mm), width is 1832mm (+12mm) and the height is 1456mm (-6mm).

At the same time wheelbase has grown by 79mm to 2791mm offering extra leg and interior room. For improved handling the front track is increased by 31mm to 1584mm with rear track up by 14mm to 1586mm.

In UK the new Passat will be offered from launch exclusively with diesel engines ranging in power from 118bhp to 236bhp.

In addition to a 1.6-litre unit there are two 2.0-litre units with 148bhp or 187bhp, and a range-topping 2.0-litre bi-turbo with 236bhp linked to a DSG gearbox and 4MOTION four-wheel drive. The range topping model is priced from £35,505 for the saloon and £37,035.00 for the estate.

A plug-in hybrid GTE version with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine and electric motor will follow in October 2015.

A BlueMotion version of the 1.6-litre, returning 78mph and CO2 emissions of 95g/km will follow in July.

Five trim levels will be offered: S, SE, SE Business, GT and R-Line.

A more rugged Alltrack version of the Estate is also planned and will follow in July.
