Alfa Romeo reportedly working on 6C, will be based on the Maserati Alfieri

Alfa Romeo 4C is an impressive compact sports car and it looks like the company has another bigger sports car in development that will be called 6C.

Details are limited, but according to Autoexpress, the 6C will share its platform with the upcoming Maserati Alfieri – a shortened version of the Ghibli saloon.

The 6C will be going against the likes of Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911 with some of the exterior details like muscular haunches and tear-drop shaped side glass to be shared with the Alfieri.

The model is also rumoured to have the most aggressive interpretation of Alfa’s new family face.

The front-engined 6C will be powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 from the Ghibli producing between 480-520bhp.

Just as the 4C and the discontinued 8C, it will be built in very limited numbers and is expected to arrive in 2017.

We haven’t seen any prototypes yet, but with a rumoured market launch in 2017 we should be seeing first prototypes in the very near future.
