A quick history of the Audi TT [video]

Now in its third-generation, the Audi TT was first unveiled as a coupe in September 1998. the Roadster followed a year later in August 1999.

The second generation was unveiled in 2006 in two body styles from the launch, along with two new high-performance versions, the TTS and TT-RS.

The third-generation model with its evolutionary design and futuristic conckpit is currently available just as a coupe with range topping TTS using a 306bhp 2.0 TFSI, taking the quattro model from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.

An open top Spider should follow soon, along with a more powerful RS model.
