2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid - first details and pictures

When Toyota unveiled the RAV4 20 years ago it was one of the first in its segment.

Here is the very first RAV4 Hybrid featuring 2.5-litre petrol engine, with electronic all-wheel drive provided by additional electric motor powering the rear axle.

The unveiling of hybrid model coincides with reveal of new RAV4 with revised styling, improved interior quality and provision of advanced technology features.

The AWD capability provides greater safety and stability, as well as a towing capacity of 1,650kg, with Toyota’s Trailer Sway Control system providing added security and peace of mind.

RAV4’s design updated design shows a stronger road presence and includes full LED headlights for the first time. There are also new rocker panels, new tail lights and a new rear bumper.

Interior updates bring new combination meters, a full colour TFT screen and soft-touch materials.

New RAV4 will go on sale in December, with the RAV4 Hybrid AWD model arriving in the UK and Europe early in 2016.

Final specifications and further details will be announced closer to market launch.
