2015 Volkswagen Passat Saloon and Variant spied for the first time

Here we have the first spy shots of the next-generation Volkswagen Passat saloon and Variant testing on the public roads. Previously chassis testing mules have been seen testing at various locations, but these are the very first full body prototypes.

The all-new Passat will ride on Volkswagen’s MQB platform which also underpins the seventh generation Golf. New platform allows to reduce weight and combined with new more efficient engines will offer even better fuel economy than the current model.

The testing in in early stages and both prototypes are heavily disguised, but we can still see some details. The new model has evolutionary design, showing a more curvaceous bodywork, prominent grille and large headlights. We also see new mirrors and sloping roofline.

The wheelbase looks longer and the whole car a bit longer and wider, offering more interior and luggage space.

New Passat is expected to debut sometimes in 2015, probably at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
