Last month at the Geneva Motor Show, Mazda unveiled the Hazumi concept car, previewing the next-generation Mazda2.
Here we have our fist spy shots of the next-gen Mazda2, testing on the roads in Germany. The prototype is heavily disguised and toned down compared to the concept, but the overall styling is very similar. There are changes to the front and rear, side mirrors and the lights. The concept looked very attractive and sporty, so we do hope the road going model sticks largely to what we saw in Geneva.
The Hazumi concept was 4,070mm long, 1,730mm wide and 1,450mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,585mm and it is likely the production model has very similar dimensions.
The concept was powered by a SKYACTIV-D 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission, that is also one of the engines we can expect in the new Mazda2.
Public debut is most likely in October at the Paris Motor Show.
