Mazda has released first details and images about the all-new Mazda2 / Demio (in Japan) ahead of its public debut in October at the Paris Motor Show.
Previewed by the Hazumi concept back in March at the Geneva Motor Show, the production Mazda2 features the latest KODO design language also seen on the latest Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5.
Details are limited, but the new Mazda features the full range of ultra-efficient SKYACTIV Technologies and will be offered with a brand-new small displacement clean diesel engine, the SKYACTIV-D 1.5, as well as different power versions of the petrol SKYACTIV-G 1.5-litre unit, linked to both manual and automatic transmissions.
Other notable features include MZD Connect in-car connectivity system and i-ACTIVSENSE active safety technology.
The Japanese spec Demio production has already started in Hofu, Japan with a market launch in the autumn.
EU spec Mazda2 is expected to reach dealerships in late 2014 or in early 2015.
