Here we have the first spy shots of the new Honda Civic Type R testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
According to our photographer, the Civic Type R prototype was benchmarking against a Ford Focus RS and Renault Megane RS. Honda executives have stated previously that they aim to brake the new Nürburgring lap record for a front-wheel drive car with the new Civic Type R. Current record holder is the Renault Megane 265.
The new Civic Type R will be exclusively available as a 5-door version and the prototype gives a good overview of the upcoming design.
The front has big air intakes and it is lower than the standard model. It also looks wider and there is a big air intake between the front wheelcase and the front door. At the rear is a big fixed spoiler and double exhausts on each side.
What’s under the bonnet is purely speculative. Most likely it is a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine with around 300bhp.
Stay tuned for more details!
