2015 Ford Mustang convertible revealed [live pictures]

In addition to the new Mustang fastback which we covered yesterday, Ford has released first pictures of the new Mustang convertible.

The convertible is almost identical to the fastback with a slightly different roofline when the top is up.

The Mustang convertible comes with a standard multilayer insulated cloth top that gives the car a quiet cabin and when folded than gives the car a sleek profile for open-air motoring. Compared to the outgoing model the new top lowers twice as fast.

Just as the fastback, the convertible will be offered in Europe with a 420bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine and an all-new fuel-efficient 305bhp 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine.

Engines are connected to standard manual or an optional automatic with steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.

European sales for both the fastback and convertible are expected to start in late 2014.
