2015 Fiat 500X prototype spied for the first time in Italy

We saw the chassis testing mule for the Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade last September.

Jeep has already unveiled their compact Renegade SUV with boxy design and here we have our first spy shots of the Fiat 500X with a full production body, spied testing in Italy.

The new Fiat 500X is based on a higher 500L platform and shares its technology with the all new Jeep Renegade.

Even though the prototype is heavily camouflaged we can see the exterior styling is quite different from the Renegade and looks like a beefed-up 500L with an increased ride height.

We also get to see little of the interior, revealing two-tone seats, a steering wheel and part of the infotainment system.

The Renegade is offered with 16 different powertrain combinations, combining four different MultiAir petrol and two MultiJet II diesel engines. The 500X is expected to use the same engines and gearbox combinations when it arrives in late 2014 or in early 2015.
