The new seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been on the market for a short while, though the new Z06 is the car true performance enthusiasts have been waiting for.
Chevrolet has now announced the new Z06, not Z07 as rumoured will be revealed next month at the Detroit Auto Show.
The teaser image shows carbon-fibre side skirt and fender-flare extensions, along with new wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres.
According to Chevrolet “it will be the most track-capable Corvette ever, designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features.”
What’s under the bonnet is purely speculative, but different sources are talking about a naturally-aspirated 7.0-litre V8 engine with around 600bhp.
If the new Z06 packs around 600bhp we can’t wait to see the next ZR1.
