2014 BMW 2 Series Coupe caught testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife

Here we have the newest spy shots of the next generation BMW 2 Series Coupe testing for the first time on the extreme Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The 2 Series is essentially a coupe version of the new 1 Series hatchback and basically a new name for the successor of the aging 1 Series Coupe as part of a bigger change that we already saw in the form od a 4 Series Coupe Concept, which previews a successor to the 3 Series Coupe.

The new BMW 2 Series will be built on the same RWD platform as the current 1 Series hatchback with some changes to bumpers and lights. The following models are expected for Europe: 220i manual, 225i manual, 225i auto, M235i manual, M235i auto, M235i Xdrive auto, 220d auto, 225d manual and 225d auto.

The convertible version is also in works and is likely to arrive shortly after the coupe debuts sometimes later this year or in early 2014.
