2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell Spied Undisguised At The Nürburgring
Audi is launching the all-electric R8 e-tron end of this year. Recently the R8 e-tron lapped the extreme 12.92 mile Nürburgring track in 8:09.099 minutes. That’s the fastest time for production electric vehicles, that could be overthrown by an all-electric Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell that was caught testing on the ‘Ring yesterday.
The SLS AMG E-Cell looks almost identical to the standard model. There is a new rear bumper without the exhaust tips and E-Cell badge on the side air intakes.
The SLS AMG E-Cell is powered by four synchronous electric motors which are positioned close to the wheels to reduce the unsprung masses. Combined output is rated at 526bhp and 880 Nm of torque.
The torque vectoring system allows for selective distribution of forces for each individual wheel. The system greatly benefits driving dynamics, handling, driving safety and ride comfort.
The Mercedes SLS AMG E-CELL will go into production in 2013. Just like the Audi R8 e-tron it will be built in limited numbers.
