2013 Hennessey Venom GT2 With 1500 hp Previewed

The 2013 Hennessey Venom GT2 will be powered by a new 7.0-litre twin turbo V8 with 1500 horsepower linked to a 6-speed Ricardo manual or a new 7-speed paddle shift transmission. The “standard” Venom GT will continue to use the twin-turbo 6.2-litre V8, which delivers 1200 hp.

Performance specs were not released, but the 2012 Venom GT with 1200 hp reaches 0-62mph in 2.2 seconds and has a top speed of 272 mph. The Venom GT2 is very likely going after the 2 second or below mark.

Other updates compared to the 2012 Venom GT include a new double bubble roof for more head room, new doors with dihedral hinges, new bonnet, new side mirrors and new headlamps, which replace the Lotus ones for something more original.

The Venom GT2 has a 1.2 bhp per kilogram of curb weight (1244kg) and the projected top speed is 287 mph (15mph more than the standard Venom GT).

The first Venom GT2 will debut in late 2013 and production will be limited to 7 vehicles, each priced from $1.25 Million US Dollars (roughly £780k).
