2013 Audi R8 Facelift Revealed, New V10 Plus Model Joins The Range [VIDEOS]

The Audi R8 has bee on the market for six years already. Over that period an optional V10, Spyder and GT model were added to the range.

Now for the next model year, Audi has refreshed the R8 range with visual updates, a new seven-speed S-tronic transmission and a new top of the range V10 Plus model.

Visual changes are not very big and include revised front bumper and grille, larger diffuser and circular exhaust pipes, redesigned LED headlights and taillights.

In addition to the new seven-speed S-tronic transmission with two mult-plate clutches, a six-speed manual is still offered for those who like it the old way.

Top of the range R8 V10 Plus uses same carbon fiber reinforced plastic found on the R8 GT. Body parts made of this lightweight material include front splitter, mirrors, side blades, rear diffuser and lining for the engine compartment.

The 5.2 litre V10 in the Plus model produces 550hp and 398 lb ft of torque. That’s 25 extra horsepower compared to the standard R8 V10. The 4.2 litre V8 packs 430bhp.

The updated R8 is priced from £91,575 for the entry level 4.2 litre V8 and goes all the way up to £127,575 for the V10 Plus. Ordering books open next month, first deliveries in early 2013.
