2012 Porsche Boxster Winter Testing In Northern Sweden

Yesterday we brought you lightly disguised spy shots of the upcoming 2012 Porsche 911 Coupe and Convertible.

Here we have the next-generation 2012 Porsche Boxster from the same testing area. Internally known as the 981, the new Boxster reveals us its new triangular LED taillights. The headlights are similarly disguised as on the new 911, which of course does not mean they are visually identical when the camouflage is removed.

Current 2.9- and 3.4-litre flat six-cylinder engines will most likely carry over with some changes to horsepower and fuel efficiency. Porsche is also working on a new 2.5-litre four-cylinder, that will make into the new Boxster. Reportedly in turbocharged configuration this new engine has an output of up to 360bhp.

Porsche has also confirmed that it will begin testing three Boxsters with electric drivetrains this year.
