2012 Hyundai Genesis Facelift Spotted Undisguised

Hyundai Genesis has won many prestigious awards in North America, including car of the year title. To keep the model fresh, Hyundai is giving it a facelift for the 2012 model year.

Exterior updates compared to the current model include new headlights, foglights, redesigned lower fascia, new chrome trim under the headlights, new grille, and new taillights. The plain looking exhaust tips are most likely temporary and will be replaced with something little bigger and brighter.

Another big news is the all-new 429bhp 5.0-litre V8 unit, that offers better performance and fuel economy.

Unfortunately Hyundai does not sell the Genesis Saloon here in UK, as they believe there is not enough demand for it to put it through EU type approval and converting it to right-hand drive. The car is a real winner, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Hyundai changes their mind and the Genesis goes on sale in Europe in a year or two.

I like the back end – think it looks tight. Having had a 2006 and now a 2009 Sonata, I’ll be stepping up to the Genesis at the end of the year. Also love the fact that they’ve boosted the base engine output…
